Learning Pathways
At The Maple School, we have designed a curriculum that meets the unique needs of our pupils, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and understanding essential for success and positive progression—whether they continue their education, pursue further training, or enter employment.
Our mission is for every pupil to “Learn and Thrive.”
We understand that success begins with being ready to learn. For many of our pupils, Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges create significant barriers to learning. To overcome these obstacles, our approach is both trauma-informed and grounded in the Six Principles of Nurture, ensuring that we acknowledge and address the impact of trauma on early childhood development.
Many pupils join us following a difficult or disrupted educational experience, making re-engagement in learning a top priority. By offering opportunities tailored to their individual needs—as outlined in their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs)—we capture their interest and ignite their imagination. Our goal is to create a positive, supportive learning environment where every pupil feels included and valued. This commitment extends learning beyond the classroom, integrating academic instruction with experiential opportunities that build cultural and social capital.
We firmly believe that every child can achieve great things, regardless of their starting point or unique needs. Our carefully sequenced curriculum not only offers a range of appropriate academic qualifications but also supports personal development. By doing so, we prepare our pupils to excel in their next steps—whether that means continuing their education, embarking on further training, or entering the workforce.
